A teraz coś bardzo ciekawego i obiecującego dla Lancisti !

Will Alfredo Altavilla be the successor of Marchionne?

According to some people, Alfredo Altavilla is not only the newly appointed CEO of Fiat Europe, but most likely also the heir to the throne of the kingdom of Sergio Marchionne. This is what the Italian newspaper ?Il Sole 24 Ore? reports. It is no secret that the 60-years old Sergio Marchionne will take a step aside once he has accomplished his current (difficult) mission; preparing the Italian automotive group for the future by means of Chrysler.
The 49-years old Altavilla could be the perfect man for the job if he proves himself worthy by achieving his goal in Europe in the next few years. Just like Marchionne, the South-Italian CEO has a financial background. Fun fact; his father was a Lancia-Autobianchi-dealer in Taranto, where Alfredo was born in 1963. This could be a good sign for Lancia, should Altavilla actually become the big boss. It is commonly known that the man has a weak-spot for the luxury brand Lancia, while Marchionne is more a fan of fast cars such as Ferraris.
After his graduation in Milan, he joined Fiat in 1990 as a supervisor. In 1999, he was appointed head of Fiat in Asia, where the Italian group hasn?t really been able to break through so far. Altavilla was also in charge when the cooperation with GM started, back when Fiat was nearly history. Together with Marchionne, he then took care of the successful break of this joint-venture, resulting in more than 1,6 billion euros for Fiat to start over. Altavilla was also Marchionne?s right-hand man during the negotiations with Chrysler in 2009 and from that point on, the former FPT and IVECO-boss was offered a position in the top management of Fiat SpA.
